I Love Idaho

It's been a while since we've been to Idaho. It was a nice get away for the weekend. As much as we've come to like Utah, we still LOVE love Idaho. Every time we leave we tell each other how much we hope to one day move back.
We got to spend the weekend with Josh's parents and then visit my Nana on Sunday. We got back late on Sunday night...it was the most beautiful drive I've ever been on...we left late in the evening, so the sun was setting...the oranges and pinks and purples in the sky along the horizon were breath taking. The clouds behind the mountains looked like they were on fire. The western mountains were silhouetted against the sunset sky, and the eastern were bright yellow and green with the shadows gradually working their way up the beautiful hills. Dark purple clouds in the distance heralded in a grand lightning storm, of which we drove through its core...so loud! And then just as quickly as it had come, it drifted on in the rear view mirror. But as it got darker the lightning got that much brighter off to the west of us. It was magnificent. And then when we got home, it was dark and clear as can be. No sign of storm, not a single cloud in the sky, just stars sprinkling their light on all of North Ogden. Josh and I put Sam to bed and sat on the front porch admiring the beauties of the world. After we finished our midnight BLT's, we went to bed. It was really a grand weekend.

Rulan got a crochet set on an auction site. So much fun!

Camping

Josh's busy season is finally coming to a close, yay! The first Saturday that he had off he spent his birthday doing yard work. The next weekend we went camping! As much fun as it would have been to bring Sam, we decided to leave her with Tasha for the weekend and make it a date weekend.
A quiet pond on the outskirts of Malad was the destination, and it did not disappoint! The temperature was perfect, the bugs didn't bite (I also doused myself in bugspray...it's my summertime perfume), Josh fished, I read and drew a sketch of the scenery (believe me, it's a very rough sketch...), we dutched some dinner in the oven over the coals, explored the hills surrounding the pond, and sat by the waterside enjoying everything about being there.
We decided we didn't need to pack a tent, so we slept in the back of the truck. I LOVE stars. They are one of my favorite things; so we star-gazed all night long. Well, until we fell asleep. There were millions of sparkly stars, lighting up the night sky, no city lights to obstruct the beauty of it.
Because the temperatures were so mild we decided to go swimming at dusk! We had the whole pond to ourselves! We didn't swim long though because it was colder than expected, but it was fun. :) And then the fire felt really nice.
The next morning, Josh caught a fish, and then we packed up and headed for Snowville, UT...a very small town in northern Utah that serves the best breakfast! Mollie's Cafe is the place to be if you want a delicious breakfast. It was worth the hour drive. :) Then we headed home and got to work on the chicken coup, stopped to get Italian Ice treats, and then pick up our cute Sam. :) What a great weekend!

Little Mozart

I have to come up with some real good distractions for Sam if I want to get any practicing done. She loves playing the piano...and by playing I mean pounding the keys. It's adorable, though. :)

Cub Scouts

They say cub scouts is the worst calling; they have a hard time finding someone who enjoys doing it. Well, then they sure lucked out with me because I LOVE IT! These wolves are so much fun and full of so much energy and life. This is my first exposure to scouting, and I have absolutely loved it!

Summer Fun

It has been WARM here in Utah, so we spend a lot of time outside! We are busy planting our garden, building a larger chicken coup for all of our growing chickens, playing at the park, playing in the yard, going on walks, hikes, and runs. Our family and the Johnson's got season passes to Lagoon. We've been a few times already; the kids love it, and we do too! I really enjoy summer time! Early sunrises, long warm days, lots of adventure. And popsicles!

I think she ran into the corner of a doorway...ouch :/

They had fun watching Samson ride a big kid ride. I think Sam is gonna enjoy roller coasters one day. :)
