Taylin had a birthday yesterday! She's serving a mission in California. And loving it! She is always happy and positive and enjoys life to its fullest. She is the kindest person I know (I think she got that from her older sisters?!)... She emails me some of her weekly writings that she keeps throughout the week so that I can compile it for her, and here's one of them from yesterday:
I'm turning twenty.
I've read the Book of Mormon ONE time for the year of 2016 so far.
Before my mission, I had read the Book of Mormon TWO times on my own.
(But now total read on my own four times...but I'm skipping ahead...)
and I play TWO instruments (trumpet and piano). In order to be here on
my mission, I worked and saved money from THREE jobs total in my life
(bookkeeping, cleaning, and a caregiver). But I had fun all the while,
in which I played FOUR sports (basketball, soccer, volleyball,
CC...and actually later frisbee team). And education is important too,
at age FIVE I started school. All along the way I always had my SIX
sisters. And I've now been a total SEVEN months away from them here on
my mission...almost EIGHT. which is also the same number of my age
when I was baptized. Now I'm at the number NINE where the only thing I
can think of is the nine months I had from the time I decided to serve
a mission and leaving on my mission. I try to do TEN push-ups every
morning...and then fall to my knees and do the modified ones. ELEVEN
is how many months I have til I leave California and return to family,
school, and normal life. TWELVE is the age I was when I first went to
the temple. THIRTEEN is my favorite number. (That's a big deal because
I like never choose favorites of anything). FOURTEEN is the age when I
had my hair at its longest. FIFTEEN must have not been very important.
(?) SIXTEEN is when I got my license which is not very important right
now since we are now 100% biking missionaries again...bye bye car.
SEVENTEEN is probably a year of lots on my plate at once between
school tests, college applications, sports, clubs, family, church,
SAT, etc. EIGHTEEN is when I moved out, went to BYUI, and decided to
serve a mission. NINETEEN is the year I went through the temple, got
my mission call, and began my mission. Now at TWENTY I can only think
of the one thing; the age I was when I learned so much about how
little I know. I know what is important and hold strong to that
understanding. But there is so much I do not know, understand, or have
experienced yet...and that's a beautiful thing.
I love life. I'm blessed from my past, present, and future. Not going
to lie, I loved age nineteen. But twenty will be full of goodness as
well. At age twenty I'll return home, return to BYUI, and complete the
best experience ever to begin a new adventure.
